Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) welcomes today’s (Wednesday’s) announcement by the Government of the publication of the Securities and Futures (Amendment) Bill 2011 (the Bill) in the Gazette on 24 June 2011 (Friday) and introduction of the Bill into the Legislative Council on 29 June 2011. The Bill obliges listed corporations to disclose price sensitive information.
“Implementation of a statutory obligation to disclose price sensitive information is strongly supported by the Listing Committee. Gazettal of the Bill is a further step towards implementation,” said Mark Dickens, HKEx’s Head of Listing.
“At an appropriate stage after the introduction of the Bill into the Legislative Council, we will consult the market on consequential amendments to relevant parts of the Listing Rules,” Mr Dickens added.
