My warmest congratulations to Mr Christopher Hui on his appointment as Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury. Chris has extensive experience in strategic business development in the financial services industry, across both the private and public sectors, giving him deep insight and expertise for this important role. I look forward to working with Chris and his team to further enhance Hong Kong’s relevance as a global financial centre.
I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to Mr James Lau for his significant contribution to the industry’s development over the past six years, first as Under Secretary, and then as Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury. I am grateful to James for his support both during my tenure as Chairman of the Financial Services Development Council and now as Chairman of HKEX. It has been a pleasure working with James and I wish him a very happy retirement.
