HKEx: Noteworthy Market Statistics On 5 March 2007

Securities market

The Hang Seng Index (HSI) closed at 18664.88 today, down 777.13 points, the ninth largest point decline in history. It was the largest point decline since 12 September 2001 when the index was down 923.74 points.
Today's securities market turnover value was $72,767 million, the fifth largest ever. -
Today's derivative warrants and callable bull/bear contracts turnover were $11,180.87 million and $100.70 million.
A total of 580,498 trades were concluded today (Record high - 28 February 2007: 639,520).
Today's closing capitalisation was $12,366,853,039,465. The previous trading day's closing (2 March 2007) market capitalisation was $12,986,358,324,667.
