Securities market
- The Hang Seng Index (HSI) closed at 22455.36 today, down 729.58 points, or 3.15 per cent, the largest point and percentage decline since 5 March 2007 when the index was down 777.13 points, or 4 per cent.
- The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index (H-shares index) closed at 12845.39 today, down 518.57 points, or 3.88 per cent.
- Today's securities market turnover value was $122,372 million, a record high. -
- Today's turnover value for H-share and red-chip companies was $40,789 million and $15,444 million respectively.
- Today's derivative warrants turnover was $21,553 million, the eighth largest in history.
- A total of 918,699 trades were concluded today, a record high. (The previous high was 899,197 on 27 July 2007.)
- Today's closing market capitalisation was $16,895,081,967,170. The previous trading day's (31 July 2007) closing market capitalisation was $17,440,932,291,319.
