HKEx Moment Of Silence In Memory Of The Victims Of The Events In US

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Ltd will observe a moment of silence with all Exchange Participants of Cash and Derivatives Markets as a mark of respect for the victims of the 11 September 2001 events in the United States. Chairman of HKEx Mr Charles Lee will give a short remark at 9.56 a.m. on Monday before the stock market opens. Chief Executive Mr Kwong Ki-chi, Chief Operating Officer Mr Frederick Grede and Deputy Operating Officer Mr Lawrence Fok will also attend the ceremony. HKEx will observe a moment of silence in the Trading Hall from 9:58 to 9:59 am.

Off-floor Exchange Participants are invited to take part in Monday's ceremony by observing a moment of silence in their offices at the above time.

HKEx asks Exchange Participants and their staff to consider refraining from futures trading voluntarily at the above time if they wish to show their respect.

The ceremony will be held in the Trading Hall on Monday, 17 September 2001. News organisations' representatives are invited to cover the event at the Viewing Gallery, One Exchange Square, Central, Hong Kong.
