HKEx: Moment Of Silence In Memory Of The Victims Of The Disasters In South-East Asia

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited will observe one minute’s silence with all stock and futures market participants at 9:58 am on Wednesday, 29 December as a mark of respect for the victims of the earthquake and tsunamis that hit south-east Asia on Sunday.

Chief executive, Paul Chow will say a few words at 9:56 am on Wednesday and chief operating officer, Patrick Conroy will also attend the ceremony. HKEx’s Board of Directors has been invited to attend the ceremony in the Trading Hall.

Off-floor Exchange Participants are invited to take part in Wednesday’s ceremony by observing a minute’s silence in their offices at the same time.

HKEx asks Futures Exchange Participants and their staff to consider refraining from futures trading voluntarily at this time.

HKEx will also invite its staff to contribute to a disaster relief fund.
