HKEX Enhances Product Offering With CATL Debut

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) is pleased to announce today (Friday) that it will offer investors more product choices on Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited’s (CATL, Stock Code: 3750shares on their trading debut on 20 May 2025.

The following products with CATL shares as the underlying asset will be available in HKEX markets:

1. CATL Options

CATL Monthly Options will be introduced on 20 May 2025, subject to the listing of the CATL shares at HKEX on that date. In addition to options with monthly expiries, weekly expirations will be introduced from 2 June 2025.

2. Listing of CATL Derivative Warrants

HKEX has informed issuers they can list derivative warrants on CATL shares when the shares debut on HKEX’s securities market.

3. Inclusion of CATL Shares in Designated Securities for Short Selling

CATL shares will also be included in HKEX’s designated securities eligible for short selling on 20 May 2025, subject to the listing of the CATL shares at HKEX on that date.

HKEX’s equities product market has been off to a good start in 2025. Stock Options has seen robust trading activity, with average daily volumes reaching 943,225 contracts in the first four months. In particular, the 10 weekly stock options contracts launched in November recorded very strong momentum with over 10 million contracts traded since launch, accounting for about 18 per cent of the total trading volume of the corresponding stock options contracts. The average daily turnover in structured products market rose to $17.6 billion in the first four months of the year, compared with an average daily turnover of $11.8 billion for full year 2024.
