On the last day of the month the General Price Index was 79,65 points. It is worth to mention, however, that the highest level the index reached for the month was 83,78 points. On a sectoral level, sub-indices reached the following points: Banking sector, 102,83 Approval Investment companies sector 72,26, and Insurance companies sector 13,94 , Manufacturing sector 51,45, Tourism sector 48,70, Trading sector 22,23, Building Materials and Construction sector 65,98, Information Technology 2,38, Financial Services 7,94, Fish Culture 11,61, Hotels with 27,64, the Other Companies sector with 64,61, the FTSE/CySE 20 with 353,92 and finally the FTSE Med 100 6.385,49 points.

Market Capitalization

The total market capitalisation (shares) reached £2.234 billion from £2.324 billion the previous month registering a increase of 3,88%. According to this month results the Banking sector accounted for 52,51% of the total market capitalisation, the Other Companies sector with 12,6%, the Manufacturing sector with 9,22%, the Hotels sector with 5,92%, the Building and Materials and Construction sector with 7,72%, the Financial Services sector with 2,57%, the Trading sector with 5,5%, the Tourism sector with 1,51%. The Insurance sector with 1,17%, the Information Technology sector with 0,95%, and the Fish Culture sector with 0,32% respectively, of the total market capitalisation. Moreover the total market capitalisation including the Approved Investment Funds, the Warrants the Corporate and Government bonds reached £4.720,00 billion compared to £4.755,00 billion the previous month registering a increase of 0,74%.

Transactions

The total value of transactions during the month in review reached £8,24 million with an average of £412,00 thousands per trading session. The Banks Sector contributed 50,94% of the total value traded, which was the highest, whereas the Fish Culture Companies sector had the lowest contribution with 0,05%. Investors primarily focused their interest on the shares of «Bank of Cyprus Ltd» and «Cyprus Popular Bank Ltd» with 33,12% and 13,46% respectively.

On the 3rd of May 3.75% Government Development Bonds 5th Series 2004 Expiry 2006, issued of total value £15.224.900, which have resulted from an auction held on March 15th, 2004, started trading.

On the 3rd of May 4.25% Government Development Bonds 1st Series 2004 Expiry 2009, issued of total value £7.919.100, which have resulted from an auction held on April 15th, 2004, started trading.

On the 3rd of May 52-week Treasury Bills (15/4/2004-14/4/2005) of total value £9.400.000, which have resulted from an auction held on April 15, 2004, started trading

On the 6th of May the CSE Council decided to transfer the following companies: L. Atteshlis Shipping Ltd, Alkioni Fish Farms Ltd and Transoccer Holdings Ltd to the “Special Trading Category” since they have not issued their audited annual report and accounts for the year ended 31/12/2003, pursuant to Paragraph 21(1) Part III Appendix F (Regulation 81(1) of the CSE Regulations). The trading of titles will commence on Thursday, May 6, 2004. The company New Marathon Tours Ltd, which has not issued its audited annual, report and accounts for the year ended December 31, 2003 yet, will remain in the “Special Trading Category”.

On the 7th of May the CSE council announced that the company “Worldmax Investment Co Ltd” has changed its name to “Worldmax Investments Public Ltd”.

On the 7th of May 990 ordinary shares of the company “Hellenic Bank Ltd”, which have resulted from the Company's warrant exercise, started trading.

On the 12th of May the CSE Council decided to transfer of titles of Worldmax Investments Public Ltd from the “Special Trading Category” to the “Authorized Investments Companies” due to its incompliance with the process of transfer to the “Other companies” sector pursuant to the CSE Circulars 01/2004 to the Authorized Investment Companies and 02/2004 to the CSE-listed companies. The trading of titles in the “Authorized Investment Companies” started trading on Thursday, May 13, 2004.

On the 14th of May the securities of the company Worldmax Investments Public Limited started trading from the Approved Investment Companies sector to the Special Category

On the 17th of May 3.75% Government Nominal Development Bonds, 6th Series 2004 - Expiry 2006 of total value £16.036.100, which have resulted from an auction held on April 28, 2004, started trading.

On the 17th of May 4.25% Government Nominal Development Bonds, 1st Series 2004 - Expiry 2009 with a date of issue 4/1/2004 (5th Issue) of total value £7,686,600, which have resulted from an auction held on April 29, 2004, started trading.

From the 17th of May after decision of the CSE council the issued share capital of Lemeco Silvex Industries Ltd, which stood at £4,370,000 divided into 43,700,000 shares of nominal value £0.10 has been reduced on Court's decision to £2,185,000 divided into 43,700,000 shares of nominal value £0.05.

On the 21st of May 4,400,000 ordinary shares of nominal value £0.25 and 440,000 warrants of Cyprint Ltd, started trading. The warrants, which were allocated gratis to the ratio of 1 warrant for every 10 shares to the shareholders of the Company, have an exercise price of £0.55 and are exercisable in the five last working days of November 2005.

On the 26 of May 84 Capital Shares, 84 Income Shares and 42 International Shares of the company "Triaina Investments Ltd", which have resulted from the Company's warrant exercise, started traded. On the 26th of May following the submission of the Annual Report and Accounts of Transoccer Holdings Ltd for the year ended 21/12/2003, the CSE Council decided to transfer the Company from the "Special Trading Category" to the "Other Companies" sector (where it was before its transfer to the "Special Trading Category").
