Hans Brouwer, Director Of Amsterdam Exchanges, To Leave Mid 2000

Date 06/12/1999

Hans Brouwer (55), director of Amsterdam Exchanges, officially announced today that he will no longer be actively involved with Amsterdam Exchanges as from 1 July 2000. His decision was due to private reasons. Mr Brouwer has been involved with the stock market for more than ten years and made a major contribution to the merger process and the repositioning of Amsterdam Exchanges in a changing Europe. Now that the time has come for the further integration of the stock market and options market, he would like this process of integration to be given the room it deserves. Amsterdam Exchanges' board of directors and supervisory board regret the departure of Mr Brouwer, but understand his reasons. They expressed their great appreciation and thanks for all he has done for Amsterdam Exchanges. As from 1 January 2000, the operating companies AEX-Effectenbeurs N.V. and AEX-Optiebeurs N.V. will be headed by Rudolf de Soet. The primary market department and AEX-Information Technology B.V. will become the responsibility of George Möller, while the finance, facility management and internal audit departments, together with AEX-Data Services B.V., will continue to report to Hans Brouwer until 1 July 2000. During the period 1 January to 1 July 2000, in consultation with the supervisory board, consideration will be given to finding a replacement for Mr Brouwer. Possible further changes to the organisational structure will also be discussed in this period.
