- GPW Benchmark has launched public consultation on the GPW Indices’ method of determination.
- The proposed changes relate to the rules for developing the WIG20, mWIG40, sWIG80 and WIG30 Stock Exchange Indices.
GPW Benchmark, a licensed administrator of benchmarks, announces a public consultation for changes in certain elements of methods of determination of GPW Indices: WIG20, mWIG40, sWIG80 and WIG30. The consultation is conducted in accordance with the Rules of the GPW Indices Family and consistently with the rules of introducing changes to the methods of their determination.
Public consultations were preceded by a stage of internal consultations with the advisory Stock Indices Committee, associating experts active in the capital market, and the Oversight Committee of Capital Market Benchmarks (Oversight Committee WRK) , i.e. the oversight function in the meaning of the BMR Regulation.
The consultation document presents proposals for changes along with analysis carried out throughout the analytical process. The changes of the methodology involve:
- the introduction of a turnover ratio as an additional selection criterion of companies participating in WIG20, mWIG40, sWIG80, and WIG30;
- adjustment of the scoring method applied to include companies into the WIG20, mWIG40, sWIG80, and WIG30 rankings;
- change of the selection method of dual-listed companies for mWIG40 and sWIG80.
The proposed changes respond to the interest and requests of market participants to retain the representativeness of “flagship” Indices, in accordance with the purpose of their measurement as expressed in the Rules of the GPW Indices Family.
The Consultation Document along with the questionnaire was sent directly to entities using the GPW Indices. The consultation document is also available on the administrator's website.
Participants of the consultation process are invited to send their opinions and responses to the questionnaire until 8 January, 2021 at indeksy@gpwbenchmark.pl.
