GICS® (Global Industry Classification Standard) is an enhanced industry classification system jointly developed by Standard & Poor's and MSCI. GICS facilitates comparative sector analysis for investors across global equity markets.
Index Descriptions
S&P Global 1200—Comprises seven Standard & Poor's regional and country headline indices—S&P 500: USA, S&P Europe 350: Europe, S&P/TOPIX 150: Japan, S&P/TSX 60: Canada, S&P/ASX 50: Australia, S&P Asia 50: Asia, and S&P LAC 40: Latin America.
S&P 500—The investable benchmark index in the U.S covering approximately 80% of the market.
S&P Asia 50—Represents securities from Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan and Singapore, representing approximately 70% of each country's market cap.
S&P Europe 350—Covers approximately 70% of the European market cap spanning 17 exchanges.
S&P LAC 40—Represents securities from Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, and Chile covering approximately 70% of each countries market cap.
S&P Topix 150—Includes 150 highly liquid securities covering approximately 70% of the Japanese market.
S&P/ASX 200—The institutional benchmark index for Australia covering approximately 80% of the market.
S&P/TSX Composite—The market indicator for Canada representing approximately 70% of the market.
