Global Board Of Trade And University Of Technology, Mauritius Collaborate To Promote Education On Financial Markets - The Collaboration Will Enable Students And Professionals To Learn The Practical Aspects Of Financial Markets Through Workshops, Certification Courses And Simulation On GBOT Markets

As a major leap towards addressing the pressing need to impart education on practical aspects of financial markets in Mauritius, Global Board of Trade (GBOT) has signed a memorandum of understanding with University of Technology, Mauritius (UTM).

The alliance will enable students and professionals in Mauritius to participate in financial market workshops and courses on trade, investment and risk management.   As an initiation to the engagement, GBOT and UTM will organize a series of workshops for UTM students under GBOT’s education initiative titled “Empowerment & Development through ‘Global financial markets’ Education” (EDGE).

Further, this partnership will enable students and professionals to participate in GBOT courses on commodity, currency and equity markets.

“We are pleased to partner with GBOT and continue UTM’s mission of meeting the changing needs of Mauritius and develop an international dimension to its activities.” said Mr. Dharmanand G. Fokeer, Director General of University of Technology, Mauritius. “We look forward to working with GBOT to bridge the knowledge gap between theoretical and practical aspects of financial markets.”

Mr. Rinsy Ansalam, MD & CEO of GBOT said: “This collaboration is a significant step towards financial market skill development and capacity building that will sustain the growing position of Mauritius as an International Financial Centre. We trust that this alliance has paved the way to a long term relationship with UTM that will give market participants in Mauritius a broad spectrum of quality financial market education.”

To better  forge our relationship  with the key  players of the economy  and for the benefit  of our students, the School has established contact with GBOT which will be marked by today’s signature of an MOU and to officially launch the series of workshop on the “Art Of Trading & Investing”, said Dr D K Padachi, Head of School of Accounting, Finance and Economics (SAFE ), UTM.
