In accepting Ms. Everson’s resignation, Mr. Jeffery said, “It’s been a pleasure working with Nanette. Her professionalism, rigorous analytical approach, integrity and work ethic have been a great asset to the Commission. We have been fortunate to have her as our General Counsel.”
Ms. Everson, in announcing her departure, commented, “It’s been an honor to work with my many colleagues at the CFTC during this extraordinary period of global change and growth in the futures industry. After five years of public service, both here and at the White House, now is the right moment for me to return to the private sector.”
Under Ms. Everson’s leadership, the Office of General Counsel has, among other things, supported the Commission in rulemakings to strengthen futures exchange governance as well as issuing final rules that will permit trading of futures on debt indexes. Further, under her counsel, the Commission was able to reaffirm its staff no-action process for foreign boards of trade that seek to provide U.S. customers with direct access to foreign futures products.
Ms. Everson previously served as Associate Counsel to the President. She is a 1977 graduate of Yale and a 1980 graduate of the University of Michigan Law School.
