Galp Energia becomes the 95th Member of ICE Futures Europe to trade ECX emissions contracts
Galp Energia, Portugal's leading oil and natural gas group, became the latest member of ICE Futures Europe to be given access to trade in ECX EUA and CER contracts.
Galp Energia is an integrated and diversified energy group with a growing presence in the upstream of oil and gas in Angola, Brazil, Venezuela, Mozambique, Timor and Portugal and major activities in Portugal and Spain focused on the refining and marketing of oil products, supply and distribution of natural gas and a growing power business.
“Emissions trading has become a key part of the energy portfolio. We believe that ECX’s liquid market complements our strategy of extending our presence in the carbon market,” commented Cláudia Estadão, Head of Power and Emissions Trading of Galp Energia.
“We are delighted that Galp Energia will be managing their emissions portfolio on ECX – their involvement adds further depth to our market and we look forward to a long and successful association with them," said Patrick Birley, Chief Executive of the European Climate Exchange.
