MIDWIG covers middle-size companies listed on the WSE. The number of companies included in the index may not exceed 40. The composition of the new futures contract is the same as the WIG20 futures contract which is already well-known to investors. Introduction of MIDWIG futures contract is a part of the campaign of promoting the segment of middle-size companies traded on the WSE. It is also another step in implementation of the WSE strategy of increasing the diversity of products.
The potential number of investors on the futures market is estimated at about 20,000 on the basis of the data published by the National Depository of Securities, since there are as many derivatives accounts (required to invest in the futures contracts) registered in the Depository.
On the first day of trading 6 contracts were traded in 5 transactions with the turnover value reaching PLN 12,842.
