Oslo Børs has reviewed the allocation of listed companies to liquidity categories based on trading in their shares over the last six months. The new allocations come into force from Friday 22 June 2007, and reflect increasing market activity in ever more shares listed on Oslo Børs.
The rebalancing exercise has caused some changes to the OBX category. Ocean Rig is removed from the OBX category, while REC and Golden Ocean Group join the OBX category. The number of shares in the OB Match category increases from 119 to 144, demonstrating that shares in an increasing number of companies are being traded more frequently on Oslo Børs. This is also shown by a reduction of the number of companies in the OB Standard category, which will now include 20% fewer shares than the last time allocations were reviewed.
Of the 25 shares listed on Oslo Børs for the first time during the review period, which runs from 1 December to and including 31 May, a total of 12 companies are allocated to the OB Match category and 5 companies are allocated to the OB Standard category, while 8 companies remain in the OB New category due to their short trading history (less than two months' history).
With effect from Friday 22 June, the Oslo Børs liquidity categories will include the following number of companies (figures for the previous period shown in brackets):
OBX 25 (25)
OB Match 144 (119)
OB Standard 47 (58)
OB New 8 (9)
OB Primary Capital Certificates 21 (20)
The OBX category is normally made up of the 25 most liquid shares listed on Oslo Børs. Shares with a minimum of 10 trades per day on average qualify for inclusion in the OB Match category. The OB Match category also includes companies that have entered into liquidity provider arrangements for their shares approved by Oslo Børs. As at 21 June, 33 companies have such arrangements in place. Shares with fewer than 10 trades per day on average are allocated to the OB Standard category. Savings banks with issues of listed primary capital certificates make up a separate category, while shares that have only a short history of listing (listed for less than two months) are included in the OB New category.
