Fully Leverage The Role Of Exchange Platform For International Investors And Promote High-Level Two-Way Opening-Up Of Capital Markets - Shanghai Stock Exchange Global Investors Conference 2020 Inaugurates Today

Date 27/10/2020

On October 27th, the “Shanghai Stock Exchange Global Investors Conference 2020” inaugurates in Shanghai. The three-day event is attended by prominent experts in the industry with a highly diversified agenda featuring the most cutting-edge topics.

Hosted by the Shanghai Stock Exchange (the SSE) and supported by the Shanghai Municipal Financial Services Bureau, the conference covers topics including the opening up of China’s capital market, the building of Shanghai International Financial Center and the development of the SSE market. Nearly a thousand delegates attend the conference online or in person to discuss the reform and opening up of China’s capital market through keynote speeches, dialogues and panels, totaling 26 sub-activities.

Mr. Fang Xinghai, Vice Chairman of the CSRC gave a video keynote speech. Mr. Wu Qing, Vice Mayor of Shanghai and Mr. Huang Hongyuan, Chairman of the SSE delivered opening remarks. Leading industry figures from important international economic organizations, regulatory authorities, international investment banks, global index providers, hedge funds, sovereign funds, pensions and exchanges home and abroad shared insights on sub-themes including the future of the STAR Market, revised QFII regulations, building Shanghai into a global asset management center, SSE REITs, bonds and ETF options markets, and opportunities and challenges faced by foreign financial institutions.

The themes of the conference cover all links of the capital market chain, providing a full picture of the latest progress towards reform and opening up in China’s capital market and the SSE. Specifically, to put into practice the concept of green development, the SSE sets up a green finance-themed seminar to discuss post-crisis green recovery of the financial system and ESG practices of listed companies in China. The Conference is held at the same time with the SSE Virtual Corporate Access. This is the second webinar of its kind held by SSE this year with broader participation from listed companies and wider representation of markets and industries. Nearly 20 SSE main board and SSE STAR Market listed companies exchanged ideas with over 300 international institutional investors. This helps facilitate comprehensive and in-depth engagement between international investors and listed companies. It also provides a good opportunity for listed companies to learn from the concerns and insights of international investors on the company’s future development, corporate governance, and investor relations.

The SSE will continue to make full use of the Global Investor Conference as a renowned platform for open communication, and help international investors to better understand and engage in the reform and opening up of China’s capital market. The SSE will remain committed to improving the international investor service system, rigorously engaging in the building of Shanghai into an international financial center, and establishing a sound capital market ecosystem which delivers win-win benefits to capital markets home and abroad.
