FTSEurofirst Index Series Annual Review 2005

Date 08/09/2005

FTSE Group, the global index provider, and Euronext, the pan-European exchange, today announce the results of the FTSEurofirst Index Series annual review. The FTSEurofirst Series has quickly established itself as key feature of the pan European investment landscape, with over 30 financial products created on the series since 2003. All changes announced today will take effect after the close of business on Friday, 16th September 2005.

The FTSE Europe, Middle East and Africa Committee approved the inclusion of five companies - Electrabel (Belgium), Veolia Environnement (France), Pernod Ricard (France), Vinci (France) and KBC Group (Belgium) - in the FTSEurofirst 80, the tradable Eurozone index. In order to rebalance the index, VNU (Netherlands), RAS (Italy), Banco Popolare di Veroni Novara (Italy) and Lanxess (Germany) are removed. There are more additions than deletions because at the time of the review, the index contained only 79 stocks, owing to the unification of Royal Dutch Petroleum and Shell Transport and Trading to create the single Royal Dutch Shell company in July.

The FTSEurofirst 100 Index, which covers the Eurozone and UK markets, has two additions: ENEL (Italy), Deutsche Post (Germany) and two deletions: VNU (Netherlands) and Lanxess (Germany).

The Committee also approved the following rebalancing changes to the FTSEurofirst 300 Index Series, the definitive benchmark of blue chip pan-European equities.
