FTSE Mondo Visione Exchanges Index:

FTSE4Good Index To Be Reviewed In September

Date 06/09/2002

FTSE Group is scheduled to announce results of the six-monthly review of its SRI index series FTSE4Good on Monday 16 September. New entrants to the index series must meet the new, tighter environmental criteria, as announced in May 2002.

Any changes to the index will be approved by members of the independent FTSE4Good Advisory Committee, which is made up of senior practitioners in the fields of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Socially Responsible Investing (SRI). A new member joins the Committee at this meeting. He is:

  • Tom Delfgaauw, former Vice President Sustainable Development at Shell International. After leaving Shell, Mr Delfgaauw was appointed the first non-executive director of Sustainability, a strategic management consultancy and think tank. He also acts as the Chairman of the Council of AccountAbility.
Tom Delfgaauw is well respected for his professional contribution to corporate social responsibility. Welcoming the appointment, Committee Chairman Mervyn Pedelty, who is Chief Executive of The Co-operative Bank, said. "Mr Delfgaauw brings additional expertise to the FTSE4Good Committee. His knowledge and experience will ensure that the criteria continues to develop in line with the broader CSR debate and that the index series remains an accurate and useful measure for investors."

Full details of the FTSE4Good review can be found at www.ftse4good.com from Tuesday 17 September.
