Global Pensions magazine conducted a survey of over 1,000 pension funds around the world and asked them to nominate a provider for each category of the awards. Each nominee was asked to put forward a submission explaining why they should win the award. An independent panel of judges, composed of a selection of representatives from investment consultants and pension groups across the world, reviewed each submission and voted for the winner in each category.
Winning the award is another milestone in a 12 month period of huge development and advancement for FTSE. This includes:
- The launch of our flagship product, the FTSE Global Equity Index Series (GEIS). By adding small cap to our existing global benchmark we have extended coverage to 98% of the world's investable capitalisation. The quality of the indices, coupled with the flexible customisation option offered by FTSE GEIS is attracting the world's asset owners and plan sponsors to make the switch to a FTSE benchmark.
- The continuing rise in importance of corporate governance and socially responsible investment has led to further growth in the FTSE4Good Index Series. Additionally, FTSE has announced new corporate governance indices (FTSE/ISS Corporate Governance Index Series) to be launched in late 2004
- Setting new standard in international indexing. Following a public consultation with over 100 investment organisations FTSE has created a transparent criteria to classify countries as Developed or Emerging markets
- Continued growth of our domestic and cross border indices including a number of product launches linked to the pan-European FTSEurofirst Index Series and FTSE/Xinhua Indices becoming established as the definitive index series for China
