FTSE UK Index Series - Quarterly Review

Date 09/06/2004

FTSE Group, the global index provider, announces changes to the FTSE UK Index Series that have been approved by the FTSE EMEA Regional Committee today. All changes to these indices will be applied from the close of business on Friday 18 June 2004.

There is one change to the FTSE 100 index at this review: Capita Group will be added to the FTSE 100 Index replacing GKN, which will move to the FTSE 250 Index.

Two companies that recently listed on the London Stock Exchange, Catlin Group and CSR, are now eligible for inclusion in the FTSE UK indices and will be added into the FTSE 250 Index. Alvis and Burren Energy will be moved from the FTSE SmallCap Index into the FTSE 250 Index.

Autonomy Corporation, Filtronic, RPS Group and Wolfson Microelectronics will all be deleted from the FTSE 250 Index and go into the FTSE SmallCap Index. Dignity and Ark Therapeutics Group are newly listed companies that are eligible and will be added to the FTSE SmallCap Index, joined by JKX Oil & Gas from the FTSE Fledgling Index. The only company moving from the FTSE SmallCap Index to the FTSE Fledgling Index is Telewest Communications.

The FTSE All-Share Index consists of the FTSE 100 Index, FTSE 250 Index and FTSE Small-Cap Index. As a result, newly eligible companies Catlin Group, CSR, Dignity and Ark Therapeutics as well as JKX Oil & Gas will all also become constituents of the FTSE All-Share Index. Telewest Communications will be deleted from the FTSE All-Share Index.
