FTSE Group, the global index company, today announces the launch of the FTSE Med 100 Index in partnership with the Cyprus Stock Exchange, Tel-Aviv Stock Exchange and Athens Exchange. The tradable index is the first to cover this region and has been designed to allow the introduction of derivative products and to attract new investment to the region.

The index contains a minimum of 5 companies from each of the participating exchanges. FTSE has designed the index to meet internationally recognised index standards and like all FTSE indices it is free-float adjusted and liquidity tested.

Peter de Graaf, Managing Director of FTSE Europe said: "FTSE has partnered with the three stock exchanges to combine their local market knowledge with the internationally recognised index expertise of FTSE Group."

Dr Panayotis Alexakis, President of the Athens Exchange said: "Through the partnership with FTSE Group, the three exchanges are able to open up a channel for foreign investment into the region and create the opportunity for the introduction of derivative products.
