FTSE Group Appoints New Bonds Committee Chair

Date 17/01/2006

FTSE Group (FTSE), the global index company, today announces that it has appointed Joe McDevitt, Managing Director of PIMCO Europe as Chair for the recently formed FTSE Bond Index Committee. Mr McDevitt has over twenty-two years of bond market experience, including eight years with PIMCO, one of the world's largest specialty bond managers.

The FTSE Bond Index Committee was formed earlier this year following the amalgamation of the FTSE UK Gilts Committee and the FTSE Global Bonds Committee. The new committee will be responsible for overseeing the continued compliance of all bond indices with FTSE’s transparent ground rules, and will meet twice a year in May and November. The FTSE Global Bond Index Series is a series of fixed income indices covering the principal government bond markets, global emerging, European covered, Sterling and Euro denominated corporate markets.

Mark Makepeace, Chief Executive, FTSE Group said “The appointment of Joe McDevitt as the Chair of the FTSE Bond Index Committee is an important step in FTSE’s long relationship with the bonds market. Under Joe’s chairmanship, the newly formed committee will help strengthen and further develop FTSE’s index offering to the bonds market.”

Joe McDevitt said "Transparent and objective indices are of prime importance to the bond market. FTSE's Bond Index Committee, together with FTSE, will work to ensure bond investors are equipped with a full range of indices in line with market demand."
