FTSE Group Appoints Head Of Corporate Social Responsibility

Date 04/12/2002

FTSE Group, the leading global index provider, today announces the appointment of Jayn Harding in the newly created role of Head of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Jayn is leading the development of FTSE's socially responsible investment index series, FTSE4Good, as well as managing FTSE Group's CSR policies.

A newly appointed CSR Executive, David Harris, will support Jane in her role. The creation of these two new CSR positions at FTSE Group is a reflection of the growth and success of the FTSE4Good Index Series.

Prior to joining FTSE Group, Jayn was Environmental Manager at Sainsbury's, the UK based food retailer. In this role she was responsible for managing all environmental issues, as well as socially responsible sourcing and CSR. Whilst at Sainsbury's Jayn was also involved in the creation of the Business in the Environment Index of Environmental Engagement and Performance.

David Harris joins FTSE Group from Arthur D Little's Global Environment and Risk Practice where he worked on its CSR and Sustainable Development team. David has also worked with PricewaterhouseCooper's climate change team.

Will Oulton, Deputy Chief Executive, FTSE Group said today: "FTSE Group has made tremendous progress with the development of the FTSE4Good Index Series since its launch 18 months ago and FTSE Group's role in the socially responsible investment debate has continued to grow. The creation of two dedicated CSR roles ensures that the FTSE4Good Index Series continues to reflect the increasingly evolving agenda in socially responsible investment and that FTSE Group is able to continue to actively engage with the CSR community."
