FTSE Expands Into Germany

Date 07/11/2000

FTSE, the international index company, has completed another phase of its global expansion programme by establishing an office and appointing a local business manager in Germany.

These moves are the latest stage in FTSE's strategy to become the leading index provider worldwide. FTSE will continue to build on the existing success of its European index series, the FTSE All-World and recently launched FTSE eTX index series by providing local sales, data distribution and client services functions.

The appointment of Daniel Winkler, who has joined FTSE from Reuters to head up the Frankfurt office, signals FTSE's commitment to the German investment community. His focus is to convert funds to the FTSE All-World index and to work with fund managers in creating a wide range of funds for retail investors using FTSE's extensive range of indices.

The German office is the second FTSE office to be opened this year. FTSE now has local offices in New York and Paris, as well as London and plans to continue this steady expansion in 2001 by opening a further two offices on the west coast of the USA and in Hong Kong.

Mark Makepeace, FTSE Managing Director said: "FTSE is building a strong international presence in Europe supported by increased commitment in local markets. I am delighted that Daniel Winkler has joined the team and will help strengthen FTSE's presence in the local German investment market."
