FTSE Equity Country Classification – Timing Of March 2024 Announcement

FTSE Russell announces that the March 2024 FTSE Equity Country Classification Announcement will be published after US market close on Wednesday 27 March 2024.

The classification of markets within the FTSE global equity indices is assessed on an ongoing basis. To ensure transparency, markets which are under review for a reclassification from/to Developed, Advanced Emerging, Secondary Emerging, or Frontier market status are placed on the FTSE Watch List.

The following markets were designated as Watch List markets as of September 2023:

• Egypt – possible reclassification from Secondary Emerging to Unclassified market status.
• Pakistan – possible reclassification from Secondary Emerging to Frontier market status.
• Vietnam – possible reclassification from Frontier to Secondary Emerging market status.

Ahead of the publication of the FTSE Equity Country Classification Announcement, FTSE Russell consults with members of the FTSE Equity Country Classification Advisory Committee, the FTSE Russell regional equity advisory committees, the FTSE Russell Policy Advisory Board, and other stakeholders regarding Watch List and other markets. Feedback received is considered, and the announcement approved, at a meeting of the FTSE Russell Index Governance Board.
