Companies within the index are drawn from the comprehensive FTSE Global Equity Index Series (GEIS), which covers over 98% of investable capitalisation. Analysis of the BBC Global 30 shows similar performance to its benchmark index, with a 93% correlation over 3 years. The companies are classified into ten industry groups as defined by the Industrial Classification Benchmark (ICB), to enable the BBC and its viewers to analyse and monitor broad industry trends within the global market.
