FTSE All-World Index Goes Live

Date 01/07/2000

The new FTSE All-World Index went live yesterday on 30 June 2000. The index builds on FTSE's existing World Index by adding Emerging Markets data provided by ING Barings. This extends cover by a further 19 countries creating a truly global index. The FTSE All-World Index includes 49 countries and almost 2,600 stocks.

The new index is supported by a ground-breaking index tailoring service for investors-called Global-Pro. The service will allow fund managers to customise the FTSE All-World Index, choosing the precise make up of the index to provide a benchmark which exactly matches their investmentmstrategy.

The new FTSE All-World Index tables will be printed in the Financial Times from 1 July 2000, and will be printed in other publications from 3 July 2000. Information on the existing FTSE World Index will continue to be available on the FTSE website (www.ftse.com), and the Index will run concurrently with the new FTSE All-World Index until September 2000.

Mark Makepeace, FTSE Managing Director said: "Following excellent feedback, we have had significant interest in the FTSE All-World Index and Global-Pro. This takes us a step further in establishing FTSE as the leading provider of global indices."
