Date 29/05/2006

The managing entities Barclays Gestión, Morgan Stanley Gestión, Banesto Banca Privada and Renta 4 Gestión have all filed to incorporate SICAVs into the Mercado Alternativo Bursátil (MAB), which started today with 28 SICAVs. Their filings bring the total number of managing entities interested in this market to 20.

Bolsas y Mercados Españoles (BME) has promoted the development of MAB to meet the demands of certain shares which, due to their specific features, require special treatment. The market will help SICAVS in the obligation established by the new collective investment regulations to guarantee liquidity for the shares.

The start, today, of the Mercado Alternativo Bursátil has been possible thanks to the involvement of the 4 Spanish stock exchanges, Iberclear and Sociedad de Bolsas, all of which are companies integrated into BME, after completing an important Group coordination process. It is worth mentioning the positive contribution and helpfulness offered by the relevant supervisory entities towards boosting the project not only in its creation but also in all necessary processes for the exclusion from and incorporation into the market of all listed securities.
