Standard & Poor’s will make the following change in the S&P Latin America 40 Index effective after the close of trading on Tuesday, June 7, 2005.

Fomento Economico Mexicano S.A. de C.V. – UBD (Mexico, SEDOL 2242059) shares will increase by 80,500,000 to 720,392,590. The share increase comes as result of an equity offering by the company to the public. If this change had occurred on June 2, 2005 the weight of Fomento Economico Mexicano S.A. de C.V. – UBD in the S&P Latin America 40 Index would have changed to 0.44% from 0.39%.
