As we enter March, the world is under an immense cloud from the devastating events unfolding in Ukraine. What we witness unfolding has united people worldwide, with support for those who have had to leave their homes behind to find shelter and find refuge elsewhere, showing how people can come together in these dark hours. Our members, clients and colleagues have had to navigate the challenging environment which we all face. Due to their immense efforts, Eurex has remained open throughout and our benchmark Fixed Income products were seen as a safe haven asset.
With the support of our colleagues, members and clients, we remain focused on ensuring our markets operate as smoothly as possible. Key initiatives continue to be worked upon and we aim to keep these on track.
I’ll refrain from highlighting or commenting on market volumes; it does not seem appropriate. Looking ahead, one can only hope that this truly heartbreaking situation ends soon. For those with friends and family in Ukraine, our thoughts are with you all. More than ever, this is a time for us all to unite and protect the values of freedom, democracy and those bravely defending those values.
