FISD to Present “Lifetime Achievement Award” To the Financial Services Industry’s Most Outstanding Leader - FISD Members To Vote for Winner; With The Award Presented At The World Financial Information Conference (WFIC), Rome, Oct. 12

The Financial Information Services Division (FISD) of the Software & Information Industry Association has established a “Lifetime Achievement Award” to recognize the individual whose drive, ideas and work have had the most positive impact on the financial information industry during the past 15 years.

Nominees for the award - the first of its kind - will be voted on by FISD members in mid- September and the winner will be announced during the Awards Banquet at FISD’s World Financial Information Conference (WFIC), which will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Rome, October 9-12.

“Each of the finalists for FISD’s ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ has made enormous contributions to the financial information industry,” said Tom Davin, VP & Managing Director of FISD. “These individuals have seen significant changes in our market and met major challenges. Their efforts helped build a nascent market data industry into the multi-billion dollar force it is today.”

The 2005 nominees to receive FISD’s “Lifetime Achievement Award” are:

  • Thomas E. Haley; VP, Market Data, NYSE (ret.); Chairman of the Consolidated Tape Association and the Consolidated Quotation Operating Committee; Member and Treasurer, Board of Directors of the Information Industry Association
  • W. Leo McBlain; President of the Financial Information Forum, NY; Chair of FISD 1990-95; VP of Marketing, ADP Brokerage Services Group (ret.)
  • Bernie Weinstein; Founder, ILX Systems; CEO, Kleos Managed Services, CIO, EF Hutton; Senior Managing Director, Cantor Fitzgerald
  • Tony Wyan; Founder, Tony Wyan & Company; VP Market Data Integrity, Merrill Lynch; co-chair of the Securities Industry Association/Financial Information Forum Y2K Market Data Test
Voting began September 1 and will conclude September 12. The 2005 nominees were hand-selected by a committee of market data veterans that are each allowed a single vote.

This years’ winner will have the honor of receiving the first ever “Lifetime Achievement Award”. FISD looks forward to making this award a permanent fixture of their biennial conference.
