The Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM) announced the first delivery of TSR20 Rubber since its listing on October 9th, 2018. Forty of the February 2019 contracts were delivered totalling 200 tonnes.
TSR, or Technically Specified Rubber, is a grade of natural rubber and, along with Ribbed Smoked Sheet (RSS), is a key component in automobile tire production. RSS has traded at TOCOM since December 1952. In recent years, TSR has exceeded RSS in both production and consumption and in response, TOCOM added TSR futures to trade alongside RSS. The Exchange continually looks to improve its Rubber market and expand its presence in the rubber community around the world.
The buyer and seller were non-Japanese commercial companies engaged in production, distribution, or manufacturing of rubber and related products. The Exchange expects growth in the Asian rubber industry to be a contributor to the development of TOCOM.
