First ETF And Future Contract Launched In Taiwan

FTSE is pleased to announce two new financial products today begin trading using the TSEC Taiwan 50 Index, calculated by FTSE. The index, which began in October 2002, has shown a positive performance of over 10% since inception. Polaris, a leading fund manager in Taiwan, has created an Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) based on the TSEC Taiwan 50 Index, and has been advised by State Street Global Advisors (SSgA). The ETF, named the Taiwan Top 50 Tracker, begins trading on the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSEC) today.
