Finansa, SET And SEC Agree Upon The Internet Café Case - A Type Of Online Order Submission Which Is To Be Concluded By October

Date 05/09/2003

President of the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), Mr. Kittiratt Na-Ranong, disclosed that the SET, the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC), and Finansa Securities Co., Ltd. have discussed the launch of Finansa Securities' Internet café to serve its customers. All parties have agreed that it is very likely that establishing this kind of Internet café will be interpreted as a branch of Finansa Securities. Finansa Securities has also said that it is ready to charge customers a minimum brokerage fee of 0.25%.

"At the moment, other member companies as well as the SET consider that online order submission should be continuously promoted on a long-term basis. They believe that it is crucial for a clear conclusion to be reached about the development path of this kind of business and be uniformly standardized. Points of consideration include service fees of online orders both for orders submitted via home terminals or through brokers' terminals. All the points should be concluded by this October," Mr. Kittiratt said.

Mr. Kittiratt also said that the SEC and the SET place importance on problems arising from securities business operators trying to develop new types of services to enhance their efficiency and flexibility. Thus the SET will quickly discuss the issues concerned with the brokers to reach a primary solution path to make further proposal to the SEC.
