Today, the globally active Fimat Group, a 100% subsidiary of the French Société Générale Group, will be linked up to trading on Wiener Börse’s derivatives market (derivatives market.at) through its company Fimat International Banque S.A. and its UK branch office in London, Fimat International Banque S.A. Fimat is thus the eighth member of the derivatives market of Wiener Börse. Michael Buhl, Joint CEO of Wiener Börse AG, explained the significance of derivatives market.at as follows: "Wiener Börse has been calculating indices for Central and Eastern Europe for the past ten years in its role as a “Gateway to the East". Due to the highly developed calculation method, these indices are the ideal basis for derivatives products, especially for options and futures traded on the derivatives market."
Thus, after the connection of Bayerische Hypo- und Vereinsbank AG, the measures initiated last year to activate the derivatives market have reaped fruit again. Membership on the derivatives market is free for cash market members. Moreover, the Schedule of Fees for all futures products was changed from a percentage of the contract volume to a fixed rate of one euro per contract and thus not only simplified, but in many cases also significantly lowered. Already last year, these measures helped to boost the number of traded contracts by 25% to 1.3mn contracts.
"Gaining a GCM (General Clearing Member) membership on the derivatives market.at is a strategic addition to Fimat's portfolio of European memberships. We can now offer top class clearing services to our clients as the first foreign broker on listed derivatives in Austria", commented Nicolas Breteau, Managing Director of the European Zone for Fimat. The Fimat Group is one of the world’s leading brokerage organisations, consisting of more than 2,000 staff in 26 key marketplaces and is a member of 46 derivative exchanges and 20 stock exchanges worldwide. Fimat offers financial institutions and large industry players the global range of clearing and execution services on derivatives and securities products, such as fixed income, tangible commodities, forex and equities. Fimat stands out because of its geographical coverage, its wide product range and its leading positions on most of the world’s key markets.
The derivatives market.at of Wiener Börse is grouped into austrian derivatives and cee derivatives for which the trading platform with continuous trading under the OMex® trading system is available. In the market segment austrian derivatives, futures and options on the ATX and ATX five as well as stock options and single stock futures on currently 16 stocks are traded. The segment cee derivatives comprises the CECE index products.
