FESE: European Capital Markets Fact Sheet Q3 2021

FESE's Capital Markets Fact Sheet is a quarterly summary of securities trading data from European exchanges.

It provides a visual overview of trading at FESE members, including aggregate statistics as well as quarterly and year-on-year comparisons for each asset class.

New listings rise again coupled by uptick in investment flows

Headlines

Market capitalisation and the number of listed companies continued to increase both quarterly and year-on-year.

IPOs and IPO investment flows decreased compared to the previous quarter, following the general trend observed in Q3 over the years. There have been more IPOs this quarter, however, compared to the same stage last year.

SME markets continued their growth in terms of new listings and market capitalisation.

Equity turnover experienced a slight decline from the previous quarter, but both trades and turnover increased compared to 2020.

Stock / Index options and futures trading, as well as commodities derivatives, have increased both quarterly and year-on-year.

Bonds turnover has declined compared to the previous quarter and year.
