FESE Capital Markets Fact Sheet Q3 2024

The third quarter of 2024 saw a mixed picture in the European capital markets, according to data from the FESE membership. While the steady yet subdued growth of the EU economy this year, supported by moderating monetary policy restrictions, offered some grounds for cautious optimism, the outlook remains uncertain. Significant risks persist, including economic challenges, as well as geopolitical and trade policy tensions.

 

The number of listed companies and Market Capitalisation remained stable

Notional turnover rose, driven by higher bond derivatives activity, while other derivatives saw declines

 

Bond turnover declined, along with most other instruments, except ETFs
