February 2006 saw all main WSE indices rise. WIRR, the smallest companies’ index was the one to increase the most.

Cash market turnover amounted to PLN 22,286 million and was 24% lower than in January. On the futures market turnover totalled PLN 26,593 million and was 23% lower than in the previous month. However, the stock options volume was 5% higher than in January and amounted to 34 785 contracts.

On February 1, 2006, 1 117 876 investment certificates of the A series, issued by KBC BYKI I NIED?WIEDZIE FUNDUSZ INWESTYCYJNY ZAMKNI?TY – closed-end investment fund (abbreviated name KBCBINFIZ) debuted on the Exchange.

On February 3, 2006, three-year floating interest T-bonds - maturing on February 5, 2009 (abbreviated name TZ0209) - were quoted on the Exchange for the first time.

Effective February 13, 2006, companies TRANS-UNIVERSAL-POLAND and BUDOPOL-WROCLAW were moved to the continuous trading system (from the single-price auction system with two auctions).

As of February 13, 2006, companies ZYWIEC, ELDORADO and LENA LIGHTING were moved to the single-price auction system with two auctions (from continuous trading).

On February 15, 2006, the WSE Supervisory Board admitted Bayerische Hypo- und Vereinsbank Aktiengesellschaft (HVB AG) to operate on the Exchange as a remote member. It is the eighth foreign remote member on the WSE.

On February 17, 2006, 1-year bearer bonds of the A121 series issued by Bank BPH S.A. maturing on March 7, 2006 (abbreviated name BPHOB0306) were traded on the Exchange for the last time.

On February 27, 2006, at the close of the trading session, the WIG index set its new all-time high breaking the first time a barrier of 40 000 points and closing at 40 073.44 points.

In February 2006, shares of the following companies were introduced to trading: ComArch, Computerland, Forte, Bioton, Hydrobudowa Slask, BRE Bank and CCC.

As the result of the ranking, drawn up as of 31 January, 2006, the composition of the WIG20 and the MIDWIG portfolios will be changed after March 17: BORYSZEW (328 shares) will be moved from the MIDWIG index to the WIG20 index, while SOFTBANK (382 shares) will be moved from the WIG20 index to the MIDWIG index.

In the MIDWIG index, PULAWY (127 shares), SANWIL (7 135 shares) and STRZELEC (5 818 shares) will replace GROCLIN, SANOK and NOWAGALA, which no longer meet the index participation criteria.
