Wheat options trading volume set a new record for any given February as 13,884 contracts were traded, beating the previous record of 13,120 contracts set just last year.
Open interest swelled in several contracts when compared to last year. Wheat futures open interest is 11.9 percent higher than at the conclusion of February 2000. Wheat options open interest is up 8.5 percent and Value Line open interest is 41.9 percent higher, both compared to last February.
Total exchange year-to-date volume for 2001 is 2.9 percent ahead of the figure at this point in 2000, with 444,017 contracts traded compared to 431,677 contracts.
