As of February 22 the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 3.14% in February, closing at 10383.38. Stock market indexes in Europe, Asia and globally was up in February, according to preliminary monthly figures from global index providers, Dow Jones Indexes and STOXX Ltd.

  • The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 3.14% in February, closing at 10383.38. Year-to-date, the index is down -0.43%.
  • Measuring Europe, the Dow Jones STOXX 50 Index is up 1.30% for February, closing at 2510.61. Year-to-date, the index is down -2.89%.
  • Measuring Eastern Europe, the Dow Jones STOXX EU Enlarged Total Market Index is down -2.14% for February, closing at 209.11. Year-to-date, the index is up 0.78%.
  • The performance of the Dow Jones STOXX EU Enlarged 15 blue-chip index is down -3.29% for February, closing at 2181.84. The index is down -0.53% so far this year.
  • The Dow Jones Asian Titans 50 Index rose 1.57% in February to 131.84. So far this year, the index is down -1.81%.
  • The Dow Jones Global Titans 50 Index rose 1.19% in February, closing at 166.68. Year-to-date, the index is down -4.01%.

FEBRUARY 2010 Sector Winners and Losers

  • In the U.S., the Dow Jones U.S. Basic Materials Index was the biggest winner in February, posting a 8.74% gain. The Dow Jones U.S. Telecommunications Index posted the narrowest gain, up, 0.03%.
  • In Europe, the Dow Jones STOXX 600 Basic Resources Index posted the biggest gain, climbing 5.81%. The Dow Jones STOXX 600 Automobiles & Parts Index had the sharpest decline, falling -5.99%.
  • In Asia, the Dow Jones Asia/Pacific Basic Materials Index posted the biggest gain, rising 3.05%. The Dow Jones Asia/Pacific Telecommunications Index posted the biggest loss, down -0.21%.
  • Globally, the Dow Jones World Basic Resources Titans Index had the best performance, climbing 6.29%. The Dow Jones World Automobiles & Parts Titans Index posted the biggest loss, dropping -1.40%.

Dow Jones STOXX EU Enlarged Total Market Index (TMI) is a European broad benchmark index. Dow Jones STOXX EU Enlarged 15 Index is a European blue chip index. Both indexes measure the performance of the 12 new member states that joined the European Union in May 2004 and January 2007.

The Dow Jones Asian Titans 50 Index includes 50 of the biggest and best-known Asia/Pacific blue-chip companies from six countries.

The Dow Jones Global Titans 50 Index measures the performance of 50 of the leading and best-known companies in the world.
