Exchanges Hold Steady - FTSE Mondo Visione Exchanges Index Up By 0.8% In April, 7.3% Year-To-Date And 14% Over 12 Months - Euronext Tops The Leader Board In April With 12.1% Rise

The FTSE Mondo Visione Exchanges Index held steady with two thirds of the publicly listed exchanges holding their share value during the month of April.

The Index, which aims to reflect market sentiment and is a key indicator of the exchanges’ performance, saw a 0.8 per cent increase in April 2017.

Commenting on the Index which closed up at 39,519.92 on 28 April 2017, Herbie Skeete, Managing Director, Mondo Visione and Co-founder of the Index said:

"Euronext's monthly total trading volumes for April 2017 ticked up on the back of French electoral volatility, representing the third consecutive monthly growth in volumes.”.

The FTSE Mondo Visione Exchanges Index best performer by capital returns in US dollars was Euronext with a 12.1 per cent increase in share price from 31 March to 28 April 2017. The next best performer was Canada’s TMX Group with a 11.6 per cent increase in share price over the same period.

The FTSE Mondo Visione Exchanges Index worst performer by capital returns in US dollars was Dubai Financial Market with a 8 per cent decrease in share price from 31 March to 28 April 2017. This was followed by Singapore Exchange with a 3.9 per cent decrease over the same period.
