"The EPRA Index is one of the first initiatives of European Public Real Estate Association in achieving more transparency for the real estate industry", says Nick van Ommen, the newly appointed CEO of EPRA. Our co-operation was announced at the launch of the EPRA Index at the EPRA Inaugural conference in Barcelona on May 26, 2000. EPRA will be the representative organisation for European quoted real estate companies and will actively promote and develop the European real estate industry. Some of the ways in which the association will try to achieve this object are as follows:- the establishment of an active forum; the promotion of common standards of "best practice" across the industry-liaison with government and regulators; the establishment of the information function.
The creation of epra.com to serve as an information portal for the sector.
The headquarters of EPRA is based in Amsterdam, and will be relocating to the World Trade Centre at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam.
For Amsterdam Exchanges, their involvement in the EPRA Index marks a series of planned initiatives to add value to the real estate market. The EPRA Index series has a base date of 31 December 1999 at an index value of 1000 points.
