August Highlights:
- Volumes on ECX remained healthy despite the large numbers of people on holiday. A total of 208 Mt traded, representing more than a 100% increase over August last year.
- Average daily volumes in EUA and CER futures and options were 9.9 Mt (9,907 lots).
- Open interest in all ECX contracts continues to grow and currently stand at a combined total of 435,848 contracts (225 Mt in EUA futures, 108 Mt in EUA options, 71 Mt in CER futures and 32 Mt in CER options).
- In August, both EUA and CER prices rallied after the sharp drop seen during July. The CER-EUA spread also widened to close at €3.99 after an early low of €3.07.
