Euronext Trading Statistics April 2001: Trading Edges Down In April On Euronext Paris, Amsterdam And Brussels

Business through the Euronext central orderbook for equities, including both domestic and foreign shares, eased 3.28% from a daily average of EUR 7.17 billion in March to EUR 6.93 billion in April.

However, trading over the first four months of the year represented a total of EUR 601.3 billion, showing a rise of 2.5% from the same period of 2000.

The market capitalisation of the 1,611 companies listed with Euronext totalled EUR 2,351 billion at April 30.

A total of 27.548 million contracts were traded on Euronext derivatives markets in April, representing a decline of 20% from March. The total for the first four months showed a more modest 3.5% decline from the same period of 2000. In April futures plus equity and index options together accounted for 88.6% of the total.
