Euronext Revises The Responsibilities Of Its Managing Board

Following the approval of Euronext's Supervisory Board, it was announced today that the responsibilities of the members of Euronext's Managing Board have been revised to reflect the evolution of the business and to strengthen its competitiveness.

Given that a Dutch member, who will be assigned key responsibilities, is currently being recruited to strengthen the Managing Board, the remit of the current Euronext Managing Board has been modified as follows:

  • Jean-Francois Theodore, now heads Euronext's single market for cash securities, in addition to his responsibilities as Chief Executive Officer of Euronext;
  • Hugh Freedberg, who leads Euronext.liffe - Euronext's derivatives business - now also oversees Euronext's Information Technology operations;
  • Olivier Lefebvre, who continues to be responsible for Euronext's Legal and Regulatory Affairs, has additionally taken on the running of commercial relations with Euroclear and the newly merged LCH.Clearnet. He is also now responsible for Euronext's newly created post-trade services;
  • Joao Freixa has assumed responsibility for reporting at Managing Board level for Euronext's information services Business Unit headed by Leni Boeren.
Other functions remain unchanged.

Euronext's CEO, Jean-Francois Theodore said : "At a time of growing competition, especially in the cash markets, we believe these changes will make us a stronger business and enable us to meet our customers' needs with confidence. This adjustment also enables us to anticipate the commercial relationships with our clearing and settlement providers which consolidation within these post-trade activities has created."
