Euronext Paris Trading Data: Seasonal Slackening For Euronext Paris In July, But Trade Amounts Up From The Same Month In 2000

Equity trading at Euronext Paris averaged EUR 4.32 billion a day in July after EUR 5.17 billion in June, but this was still higher than the EUR 4.2 billion average for the same month of last year. The total for the 22 business days in July was EUR 94.94 billion. The peak for the month was EUR 6.22 billion on July 12 and the low EUR 2.51 billion on July 16.

Trades through Euronext Paris market systems totalled 6,147,280 over the 22 days, after 6,589,280 over 20 business days in June. The daily average was 279,441 after 329,464 in June. The busiest day was July 6 with 351,286 trades and the slowest July 16 with 214,312.

The year-on-year decline in the number of trades eased from 16% in the first three months to 13.32% for the first seven months and was limited to 9.39% from the average for 2000.

Trade values, in contrast, were up from an average of EUR 4.56 in the first seven months of 2000 to EUR 5.03 billion in the same period of this year, thus showing a rise of 9.35% from the average for 2000 as a whole.

Nine new companies were listed on Euronext Paris regulated markets in July. These were Beghin Say, Cereol, Cerestar and Provomi - four companies resulting from the division of a single entity - plus Euronext NV on the Premier Marché, and Huis Clos, Tessi, Guy Couach and Euraltech on the Second Marché.

At July 31, 2001, capitalization of French companies listed on the Premier, Second and Nouveau Marchés totalled EUR 1,408 billion.
