The peak for the month was EUR 12.96 billion on May 30, a new record for a single day's trading. The previous record was EUR 10,53 billion on March 7. The low for the month was EUR 2.2 billion on May 28.
Trades through Euronext Paris market systems totalled 7,334,300 after 7,100,038 in April. This set the daily average at 333,377 trades, representing a decline of 10.8% from the April average of 373,686. The busiest day was May 2 with 438,766 trades and the slowest day May 24 with 161,974.
Over the first five months of the year, the amount traded each day on Euronext Paris equity markets averaged EUR 5.16 billion, showing a rise of 11.2 % from EUR 4.64 billion in the same period of 2000, but the average number of trades in the same period declined 14,45 % from 433,005 to 370,424.
Two new companies were listed on Euronext Paris regulated markets in May - Access Industrie and Ulric de Varens, admitted to the Second Marché.
At May 31, 2001, capitalization of French companies listed on the Premier, Second and Nouveau Marchés totalled EUR 1,507 billion.
