Euronext Paris Derivatives Markets Steep Rise In Trading And Open Interest In January

Trading on Paris derivatives markets rose 26% from December to January, with over 21 million contracts (21,604,543) changing hands. Open interest climbed a steep 28% to total 32,392,124 lots.

In equity and index derivatives, trading was up 25.4%, while open interest rose 28.2%. Short and long-term equity options showed a monthly trade volume of 11 278 474 lots, up 47.3% on December. Open interest for these contracts reached 23.7 million lots, 33.5% higher than in the previous month. Trading in short-term equity options totalled a record 9,878,925 contracts in January.

In fixed-income derivatives, 3.08 million Euro Notional futures were traded, a rise of 29.3% on December.

In commodities, overall trading jumped 94.6% to 22,022 contracts for an average of 1,001 lots per day.
