Trades in equity products through Euronext's market systems totalled 10,149,768 in March 2002, up 9.1% from the previous month, and down 3.9% from March 2001. The average daily number of share transactions was up 8.9% from February 2002 and 5.7% from March 2001.
On NextTrack, the market segment dedicated to Trackers - or exchange-traded funds - daily trading averaged €138.6 million in March 2002, compared with €122.5 million in the previous month, a rise of 13.1%. Globally, activity on NextTrack increased by 270% from March 2001. NextTrack was launched on 9 January 2001 and now counts 59 Tracker funds.
The Euronext 100 blue chip index was up 5.8% in March and the Next 150 index was up 5.6%.
As of 28 March 2002, the market capitalisation of the 1,561 companies listed on Euronext markets totalled €2,201 billion.
